Ingredients

Each cost is for the amount this recipe uses, not the whole package. Pantry staples like flour, sugar, vanilla and spices cost more on your first trip, then last for many batches. Rows marked “Not priced”, like water and toppings, aren't in the total.

Per serving (6 servings)$1.56
  • 2 lb Brussels sprouts, ends trimmed and halved
  • 5 slices bacon, cut into ½-inch pieces
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 to 3 Tbsp store-bought balsamic glaze
  • Optional: grated Parmesan or dried cranberries, for serving

Directions

  1. Heat the oven to 425°F.
  2. Season. On a large rimmed baking sheet, toss the sprouts with the oil, salt, and pepper. Spread them out in a single layer and turn them cut side down. Scatter the bacon pieces around the sprouts.
  3. Roast. Roast without stirring until the sprouts are deeply browned on the bottom and tender in the middle and the bacon is crisp, 20 to 25 minutes.
  4. Finish. Drizzle with the balsamic glaze, toss, and add Parmesan or cranberries if you like. Serve right away.

Tips

  • Dry the sprouts well after rinsing. Wet sprouts steam instead of getting crispy.
  • Don't crowd the pan. If the sprouts overlap, split them between two pans.
  • No balsamic glaze? Simmer ½ cup balsamic vinegar with 1 Tbsp honey in a small pan until thick and syrupy, 8 to 10 minutes.

Storage

These are best fresh from the oven. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days and re-crisp in a 400°F oven or air fryer for 5 to 8 minutes.
