About Food Butler
Food Butler is a meal planner that knows what dinner costs. Import your recipes from anywhere, plan your week, and get one grocery list with an estimated total before you shop.
Why we built it
Like a lot of households, we were stuck in the same loop: "What should we eat?" then "We have nothing to make that," then takeout again. Groceries kept getting more expensive, and the meal planning apps we tried stopped at the list. None of them told us what the week was going to cost.
So we built the tool we wanted: one place for the recipes we actually cook, a weekly plan, one grocery list for all of it, and an estimated price for every recipe and every week.
What Food Butler does
- Imports your recipes. Paste a link from a recipe site or a social post and Food Butler turns it into a clean recipe card you can edit, rate and tag.
- Plans your week. Add recipes to the days you'll cook them.
- Writes one grocery list. Ingredients from every recipe in the plan are merged and sorted by store section.
- Estimates the bill. Every recipe and every plan shows an estimated cost, based on U.S. average grocery prices.
- Sends your list to the store. If you shop at Kroger or a Kroger family store such as Smith's, you can send your list straight to your cart.
On this site, our priced recipes and blog show the same idea in action: real dinners with the cost of every ingredient.
Where we are

How we make money
Food Butler's core features are free. We earn money in two ways:
- Affiliate commissions. Some links and buttons that take you to a retailer, such as sending your list to Kroger, are affiliate links. If you buy, the retailer may pay us a commission. You pay the same price. Read our Affiliate Disclosure.
- Premium. An optional subscription adds extras such as pantry tracking and AI meal plans. Founding members from the waitlist get a year of Premium free.
Commissions never change your price, the cost estimates we show you, or how we match products to your grocery list.

Food Butler is made by Food Butler LLC, a small independent company based in West Jordan, Utah. Retailers named on this site or in the app don't sponsor or endorse Food Butler.
